As a professional photographer, I use the best cameras available. I take great pride in my work, and I love it, but sometimes it’s all too “serious” to be fun like it should be. So I want to buy a small, lightweight camera that I can take anywhere: a Tigers Game, a party or just an afternoon Sunday drive with Cheryl.
Pictures are supposed to document and decorate our life, right? So who’s going to fill up our photo album if Cheryl and I are always on the other side of the camera?
So, I’ve found my new toy: the Lumix FZ 1000. I haven’t been this excited about a camera in years. It’s very light , but it’s shaped like a professional camera, so it’s easy to handle. It has a very high quality lens made by Leica. One of the great things about the lens is it’s amazing zoom range. It’s 25mm to 400mm, which means it goes from wide angle to really close up without having to change lenses, so there’s no extra junk to carry. It also does 4K video. I could go on and on about all the technical stuff, but that misses the point–the point is, it makes really good quality images and it’s light and easy. Like a phone, but much better–not nearly as good as my pro gear–but easy and light. I’m excited!
Once I get this camera home, Cheryl and I will start playing with it, and I’ll share what we get along the way. Should be fun! I’ll include a test shot from when I tried the camera close-up of our hound Beemer sleeping–taken from about 6″ away.
