John Tree studied photography at the Art Institute of Atlanta in Georgia and went on to work for two large commercial studios in the area. He found product photography technically interesting, but wanted to create images that captured and stirred emotion and had great value for people and their families.
Over the next twenty years, he photographed hundreds of weddings, high school seniors and families and worked in a number of leading portrait studios- continually refining his skills, developing new concepts and creating images that families treasured.
John has an easy-going manner that makes it easy for people to relax and be themselves. Combining his technical background with artistic posing and lighting, John creates portraits that are both natural and beautiful.
An active member of the Professional Photographers of America and the Detroit Professional Photography Association, John is recognized as an accomplished photographer whose skill, style and artistic vision are in constant evolution. Cheryl continues to broaden and develop her photographic and artistic vision by study at Schoolcraft College and by attending training workshops and seminars for photography and graphic design. Cheryl is also a very accomplished lead guitar player and singer and has toured throughout the Midwest. Co-founding Northstar Photography & Design, Cheryl brings not only her skill, but a friendly manner, great sense of humor and an insatiable passion for producing beautiful work.

Chief Designer/Photographer/Owner
Cheryl Tree is a talented award winning Graphic Designer, Photographer and Artist and is the Chief Designer for Northstar Photography & Design. Since 1996 Cheryl has displayed her work in Galleries and One Woman Art Shows in both Chicago and Metro Detroit. During that same period, Mrs. Tree worked for North American Photo performing positive artwork on photos and LaMoore Photography as a Digital Artist, Retoucher and Printer. In 2004, Cheryl formed Color Correct Imaging, specializing in color correction, image enhancement and Album Design.
